Who doesn’t love a good “rags to riches” story? There is one that your whole family can experience, about an hour outside of Nashville. It all started when a coal miner’s daughter bought a small country town, called it home, and then invited fans to come visit. Laura Faber introduces us to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch – the home of one of the most beloved female performers in country music.
Inducted into more music Halls of Fame than any female singer to date, Loretta Lynn has earned four Grammy Awards, Kennedy Center Honors and a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and sold more than 45 million records worldwide. Still going strong after more than 50 years, Lynn is the subject of the new documentary with never-before-seen home movies, performances and interviews with Lynn and musicians.
2021 marked the 50th anniversary of “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” the Loretta Lynn song that became a book, a feature film, and an indelible part of popular culture. Like so many other songs written by Lynn, the lyrics told the story of her life and spoke to women who struggled to make ends meet. Lynn’s simple, straightforward song stories gave legitimacy to the joys, heartaches, struggles and triumphs.
