American Encores Sept 14, 2006-June 2, 2007
Nearly all of the Nashville Symphony’s Classical series programs will feature one work by an American composer that has been performed either only once before – at its premiere – or rarely played since. Nashville Symphony’s American Encores program consists of these second performances. Some composers will be well-established figures, like Philip Glass, while others may be entirely new, like Stephen Dankner. The ultimate goal of American Encores is to foster a wider appreciation of the wonderful, prolific and imaginative composing that is going on in America today.
The Farewell Symphony May 26-27, 2006 After more than 20 years, the Nashville Symphony performs their last concert at TPAC, and pays a fitting tribute with a special performance of Haydn's "Farewell Symphony."
