(NPT Reports) Teachers Have Their Say at NPT Town Hall Event

Smaller class size is a big factor in improving student performance– one of many revealing comments from teachers who gathered for a town hall style discussion at Nashville Public Television. The Teacher Town Hall drew more than 100 teachers from several different school districts in middle Tennessee. Here is a preview of the broadcast that will air in its entirety on February 29.

    Very informative town hall meeting. This session highlighted improvements that affect teachers and students. Including but not limited to: allowing the teachers to better explain how and why something works versus the way that it does by allowing the students to view a wide range of informative angles, further higher order discussion, and foster learning that promotes reciprocity.

    To be a teacher is a life time commitment to being a student. Last nights town hall meeting gave me an opportunity to see we have committed teachers who are learning how to work the system in order to survive the system, to survive isn’t enough. We need to thrive, our children deserve more and our policy makers need to realize our classrooms are in crisis. If our government can bail out the banking industry, why can’t it bail out our schools?
