NPT Rolls Out Election 2008 Special Programming

Full coverage of debates, Frontline Specials and a Look at the South’s Role in the Election Highlight Offerings

NASHVILLE, Tennessee -- Wednesday, September 24, 2008 -- Nashville Public Television (NPT) will provide Middle Tennessee viewers with a full slate of special Election 2008 programming over the next several weeks. From NewsHour coverage of the Vice Presidential debate and all three Presidential Debates to the Frontline specials “The Choice 2008” and “The War Briefing,” viewers will have an opportunity to get a complete perspective on the issues facing the nation and the candidates vying for its top position from some of the most trusted names in television.  Viewers will also get historical perspectives on the presidency with encore presentations of American Experience episodes on Jimmy Carter, Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon; NewsHour anchor Jim Lehrer will discuss the potency of debates with past presidents, vice presidents and candidates; and our own John Seigenthaler will explore the role of the South in presidential elections and the impact of Southern voters on the upcoming election.  The nation’s growing health care crisis will get a look in P.O.V.’s “Critical Condition,” and the impact of one of the most sought-after demographic groups in the nation will be examined in “Latinos ’08.”

All of the programs will be complemented by our nightly NewsHour and BBC World News coverage, along with Friday nights’ Bill Moyers Journal, NOW on PBS and Washington Week.
